The continiously increasing share of electric and electronic
components in a car calls for new space-saving fastening elements.
The circuit board of a black box is mounted with double-sided
adhesive tape to promote heat conductivity. The fastening of
various sensors, such as rain-, distance- and temperature sensors
as well as laced wiring harnesses with double-sided pressuse
sensitive adhesive tapes is state-of-the-art.
The stringent performance criteria of this application like
temperature stability, UV-and hydrolysis resistance are met by
these tapes. The latest generation of Lohmann's HPT(High
Performance Tape) offers a heat resistance up to 180 degrees C.lts
Brilliant transparency is paramount for the application of mounting
automotive rain sensors.
A specialty application exists with the clock spring serving as
conductive element into the steering wheel. In order to reduce the
friction between the spring and the housing protective insulation
materials are being used which are fasetened with Lohmann tapes in
a space-saving manner.
Not only in the upper luxury car segment but increasingly also in
the middle class market segment, automobiles are equipped with seat
heating and seat occupation detection systems. The electric systems
are mostly fastened with double-sided adhesive tapes required to
meet a multitude of technical criteria.
Lohmann adhesive tapes, either as a scrim reinforced transfer or
with a special paper carrier, coated with a water-based acrylic
adhesive or a UV-cured hotmelt, are fogging-poor and heat
resistant. Lohmann is ideally positioned to supply die cut parts in
any desired shape for these applications. The moisture vapor
transmission can be increased by partial coated tapes, such as
striped or screen shaped material.
