Corrugated cardboard (high wet strength, double wall) or cardboard
laminated foam is being bonded to the roof lining under the car
roof for insulation purposes. The tape needs to be able to
compensate against the expansion of the cardboard. The roof lining
may also be bonded to the roof without any insulation. For this
appli-cation a tape with a high tack is required. The advantage of
using double-sided adhesive tape for roof lining attachment versus
conventional fastening with clips is the noise reduction.
A flat cable is attached to the roof lining in order to provide
power for lights sources, sun roof motor, etc. A double-sided
adhesive tape is bonded to the roof side of the roof lining. The
flat cable is then positioned on the other side of the tape and
cover with a protective nonwoven coated with Lohmann Unilok tape.
The next step involves the mounting of the roof lining to the car
roof. The roof lining attachment can also be made with Koester
Hook+Loop System, available in 10-400mm widths.
